Grady spent his childhood in Southern Illinois and accepted Jesus Christ as his savior in second grade. A few weeks later he publically celebrated his new life with Christ through a believer’s baptism.
Grady graduated from Dayton Christian High School in Ohio, where he met his future wife Alissa. They were married after their second year at Liberty University. Upon graduation, they returned to Dayton Christian High School where Grady taught Sophomore English and assisted in the Theater Department. Following the events of September 11, 2001, Grady left his teaching career and served as an Infantry and Logistics Officer in the Army for the next nine years.
Moving frequently, Grady and Alissa always grounded themselves in their local church and served in various Children’s Ministries. In May of 2010, the Army moved the Adkins family to Rock Island Arsenal. They immediately plugged into the Children’s Ministry at Harvest Bible Chapel – Davenport. It was during this time Grady could no longer escape God’s compelling call on him to serve in full-time ministry. In April 2012, Grady resigned his Army commission and joined the Harvest staff as the Director of Children’s Ministries.
Grady’s desire is to serve the church, proclaim God’s love and help others grow in Christ. His life verse is Mark 10:45 which says, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Grady and Alissa live in Davenport with their four children: Landon, Reagan, Griffin and Rowen.
