Pastor of Local Outreach and College Ministries

Doug spent his childhood years in Deer Park, IL, graduating from Lake Zurich High School and went on to get his Bachelor of Arts in History and Comparative Religious Studies at Illinois Wesleyan University. He earned his Master of Divinity degree at Denver Seminary and graduated in May 2009.

Doug came to Christ at age 19 through a campus ministry called DRL (Death, Resurrection, and Life). It was in the context of serving in ministry that he met his wife, Kristin, and they were married in 2006. Doug grew up in a “social gospel” church setting, and it was there that he had much exposure to compassionate outreach in the local community. Throughout college and his seminary career, Doug came to realize and believe that what distinguishes Christian compassion from secular social justice, is the life-changing message of the Gospel.
.

Today, as the Pastor of Local Outreach, Doug’s passion is to engage and equip our church and community to advocate for those who have no voice. That is, to train up others to care for the “least of these” placed in their midst in a way that declares the Gospel in word and deed as Christ did among the blind, the lame, the sick, the outcast and the poor.

Doug and Kristin live in Bettendorf with their son, Zander, and two dogs, Theo and Rudy.
